Rubio’s

Rubio’s is the sun-soaked birthplace of the Original Fish Tacos, bringing authentic Baja-inspired coastal flavors to the table with fresh ingredients and the laid-back spirit of San Diego's beach culture.

A Taste of Baja

Propaganda teamed up with Rubio’s to revive a beloved coastal classic and return it to its roots. The goal was to remind the world why Rubio’s mattered in the first place: the Original Fish Taco, the Baja soul, and the laid-back San Diego spirit that started it all.

We began with deep research into the brand’s heritage, its loyal fans, and what had been lost over years of drift. From there, we rebuilt a brand identity that felt sun-warmed, authentic, and full of life. Something that honored where Rubio’s came from while feeling relevant to today’s taco lover.

The result was a refreshed visual world and clear brand voice that celebrated coastal Baja flavors and beach culture without apology. More than a new look, the work gave Rubio’s a brand platform that could scale across packaging, restaurants, digital ordering, menu innovation, partnerships, and fan-driven activations.

Rubio’s became what it always should have been: a place where fresh ingredients, ocean breezes, and the spirit of a perfect fish taco come together. A brand with its feet in the sand and its eyes on the horizon.

Propaganda redesigned Rubio's Coastal Grill packaging and menu to deepen the brand's connection to its Baja roots. Every detail was crafted to feel authentically coastal, bringing the warmth and energy of the beach directly to the dining experience.
Propaganda partnered with Rubio's Coastal Grill to amplify their partnership with pro surfers Griffin and Crosby Colapinto. The goal was to connect Rubio's 41-year Baja heritage to modern surf culture, turning a brand milestone into an authentic lifestyle campaign built around the ocean, competition, and fish tacos.
